The are no organised Marinas in the island. Anchage takes place in the the ports of the Elafonissos village, which are well protected from all winds. You may also anchorage in various bays around the island.

In the old harbour, with the characteristic Church on a little islet of land, the passage is shallow with numerous rocks just 40cm under the surface is not recommend. Entrance should be attempted from the eastern protection call and about 10m away from it.

In the new harbour, Megalo Tigani, the depth is above 4m on the dock but as it is very small you may not find a slot. You may also leave the boat off-shore in the bay but you have to be carefull not to be on the route of the ferry boat which during the summer months may sail as many as 30 times per day.

The channel between Elafonissos and Peloponesse with the golden-bluegreen waters is only 2.05 m deep and there are a lot of dangerous sports such as "toy pappa to Aloni". You are advised to consult the locals if you plan to sail in this channel.

This year (2005) Elafonissos has a Fuel Station. There is also one at Neopolis just 3,7 miles east of Elafonissos.

Safe anchoreage, depending on the weather can be found on the Lefki bay on the east side of the island with a very deep sandy bed. Depending on the wind direction, the Frango bay (Simos) can be used. The sea bed is sand and quite deep. The bay in Kato Nissi, where the Panagias ta nissia are, needs extra attention as there a lot of small islets and one has to be very carefull in the entrance to bay.
